Giséle Vienne likes many a number of things, such as turning up the volume really loud, handcrafting puppets, covering her actors with fake blood, building an authentic-looking forest onstage, and starting a snowstorm in a theater. For her play Eternelle Idole she even moved the entire thing to an ice-skating rink. She’s a trained philosopher, puppeteer, choreographer, performer, and visual artist who often works with Dennis Cooper. This is a long way of saying she basically does everything and is an amazing, beautiful, chaotic genius.

Photographer Estelle Hanania released À Propos De Gisèle, a book that gathers pictures of Gisèle’s plays Eternelle Idole and This Is How You Will Disappear. The photographs, originally in color, settle nicely in a black-and-white shelter. They were released by Je Suis Une Bande De Jeunes as part of theirThe Blue Zine series. À Propos De Gisèle sold out in ten days. So unless you’re one of the 50 people who got one (and chances are you’re not, since she’s in France), there’s no way you could ever see what it looks like unless you check out the photos below.
